The Dragon ProGUIDE X Spinning series represents the next generation of one of Dragon’s most respected rod families, developed with a clear focus on preserving exceptional sensitivity while introducing refined modern design and advanced materials. Building on the reputation of the Guide Select range, ProGUIDE X rods deliver outstanding feedback from both lure action and fish strikes, creating an almost direct connection between angler and blank.
The heart of the ProGUIDE X series is the integrated Resonance System, paired with a stiff graphite handle engineered to transmit acoustic waves with remarkable clarity. The intensity of feedback is comparable to fishing with a hand placed directly on the blank, allowing anglers to detect subtle lure movement and delicate bites with confidence. Two of the three handle components are thin-walled moulded sections made from lightweight, extremely stiff woven carbon fibres in 3K technology.
Visually, the series is defined by its distinctive and elegant styling, featuring dark red decorative braids and semi-translucent varnish in matching tones. The handle is completed with a durable cork and rubber butt section and a black grip, combining comfort, balance and long-term durability. For hardware, Dragon selected Fuji PTS reel seats for spinning models and Fuji Alconite K-series guides arranged according to the KR-Concept, ensuring smooth line flow and reduced weight.
Compared to the earlier Guide Select series, ProGUIDE X rods achieve a significant reduction in overall weight without sacrificing strength or endurance. The blanks are constructed using a sophisticated blend of Japanese Toray prepregs, including high-modulus 40 and 46 million PSI graphite as the primary material, ultra-stiff 62 million PSI graphite in key areas for weight reduction, and 30 million PSI graphite in the core for strength and durability.
The ProGUIDE X range covers a broad spectrum of spinning applications, from extra-light tip rods for perch fishing in lengths from 198 to 275 cm, through short two-piece models designed for light lures up to 15–25 g, to longer spinning rods with low test weights and increased power in lengths from approximately 7.5 to 10 feet. This versatility makes the Dragon ProGUIDE X Spinning series a premium choice for anglers who demand sensitivity, performance and refined design across a wide range of fishing situations.
